Her hair twinkles with starlight
Like her smile
And it becomes her more than she
Could ever admit
But sometimes he finds himself missing
That mousy brown color
That drew him in the first place
He still remembers their first meeting,
A simultaneous rescue
And distraction,
The way her braid flew behind
As they strolled amongst the clouds
But he would never tell her,
Especially not now,
When she stands with arms akimbo
And glares at him with piercing eyes
She wouldn't appreciate the comment
Claim he was "slithering out" again
So he keeps his mouth shut
"You're late," she says
He shrugs back his shoulders
Mumbles apologies
And quickly pulls her into his arms
One arm around her waist,
The other in her hair
"It's the king's fault, not mine."
She protests, tries to escape
(Old Sophie remains, at least in her temper)
But he gives her a kiss
Runs his fingers through silver
She sighs and gives in
And he decides he likes it much more
Than a silly brown braid
And besides, starlight suits black
More than brown could suit blond.
Why is there not a "fan-poetry" section? :P

This is for :iconhermionechick8:'s Miyazaki contest - "Howl's Moving Castle" is one of my most favorite movies ever, and one of my most favorite books. So, naturally, that's what I chose. :) I sort of combined elements of the book into it, since Book Sophie was so cool and came up with silly phrases like "slithering out", but of course in the book Sophie's hair was a lovely red color. In the movie, at first it's brown, and then it turns to silver - I don't remember why, though.

And Howl keeps his hair black in the end of the movie, even though at the end of the book and in the other ones he continues to dye it blond like a priss. X3 I love him.
